My name is Lonnie Horne, and I am a licensed Real Estate Broker Associate with Keller Williams Realty in Elk Grove, California. I proudly assist buyers and sellers throughout Sacramento County and work alongside a trusted network of real estate professionals across California to help clients achieve their homeownership and investment goals.
But real estate is only part of my story.
I am originally from Chicago and have called Sacramento home since my early teenage years. Over the years, Sacramento has become much more than the place where I live. It has become the place where I built my businesses, my relationships, my career, and my commitment to serving others.
Many people know me first as a barber.
I have been cutting hair in the Oak Park community since I was 19 years old. My first barbershop was The Final Cut Barbershop, located near the corner of 34th Street and Broadway and owned by Cassie Gordy. I spent six incredible years there, building lifelong relationships and learning lessons that would shape my future.
It was during those years that I truly fell in love with Oak Park.
Coming from Chicago, Oak Park reminded me of the neighborhoods I grew up around. There was a strong sense of community. Families knew one another. Certain last names carried generations of history and respect. People genuinely looked out for each other. It felt familiar, and it felt like home.
Over the years, I became involved with numerous community organizations and neighborhood initiatives. I have always enjoyed helping people, whether that meant mentoring young professionals, teaching business concepts, creating employment opportunities, or simply being a trusted resource when someone needed guidance.
The truth is, my real estate journey started in a barber chair.
There was a client named Butch Henry who regularly visited our shop. He often rotated between barbers and would spend time talking to us while getting his haircut. One topic always seemed to come up: real estate.
Butch constantly encouraged us as young men to learn about real estate and wealth building. At the time, many of us weren't ready to hear the message. Looking back, I realize he was trying to plant seeds that would grow later.
I remember him showing me his ledger one day. He wasn't bragging. He was teaching.
Inside were commission checks ranging from $10,000 to $25,000 in a single month. For a young barber in his twenties, that was eye-opening. It showed me what was possible if I was willing to learn and grow.
Then one day, Butch walked into the shop and announced something none of us expected.
He told us he was tired of simply talking about opportunity. Instead, he was going to create his own real estate scholarship. He would personally pay for real estate school for anyone willing to step up and commit to the challenge.
I was the only barber who accepted.
Butch sent me to Anthony Schools of Real Estate in Sacramento.
It remains one of the greatest gifts anyone has ever given me.
While it still took me years to mature, gain confidence, and fully commit to my real estate career, I can honestly say that my journey may never have started without him.
I've spent years trying to find Butch so I could thank him.
I've searched social media. I've asked mutual contacts. I've looked everywhere I could think of.
No luck.
Some people have told me they believe he was simply an angel placed in my life at exactly the right time.
Whether that's true or not, I know this: his investment in me changed the course of my life.
My real estate career began with Elite Realty, where I had the privilege of learning from Broker Robert Do and building relationships that remain important to me today.
Eventually, my team leader, Chris Ha, transitioned to Keller Williams Realty and began inviting me to experience the culture there. After attending meetings and experiencing the environment, I was impressed by the education, accountability, collaboration, and winning culture.
Eventually, I made the move to Keller Williams Realty Elk Grove.
While I spent a brief period with a private brokerage as I focused on launching World Class Faders, I ultimately returned to Keller Williams and have proudly remained part of the organization ever since.
Over time, I earned my Broker's License and became a Broker Associate.
Meanwhile, my entrepreneurial journey continued to grow.
World Class Faders expanded, and eventually I launched World Class Stylers. Through the growth of both businesses, I learned how to build systems, develop leaders, and create opportunities for others. Many of the leadership principles I learned through Keller Williams helped shape the culture inside my barbering businesses as well.
As both my barbering career and my real estate career became more successful, I initially worked very hard to keep the two industries separate. In my mind, they were two completely different worlds, and I wanted to respect each profession independently.
Over time, however, something became very clear.
Both businesses are people businesses.
Both are built on trust, relationships, communication, consistency, and service.
One day I began reviewing where many of my real estate clients had come from, and I was surprised to discover that a significant number of them had originated through the barbershop. Some were my personal clients, while others were clients of barbers who worked within my business. As World Class Faders continued to grow and World Class Stylers was added, those opportunities expanded even further.
For a while, I struggled with whether I should keep everything completely separate.
Eventually, it clicked.
I was working hard to separate two things that naturally complemented one another.
Being a barber taught me how to build relationships, earn trust, communicate effectively, and become a resource within my community. Real estate gave me the opportunity to help people achieve some of their biggest financial and personal goals.
Instead of hiding one from the other, I realized I should embrace both.
That's when the name "The Barber Broker" was born.
The name represents two professions that have shaped my life, my businesses, and my ability to serve others. It reminds people that I am proud to be both a successful small business owner and a real estate professional.
Today, those worlds continue to work together.
Clients from the barbershop often become real estate clients. Real estate clients often become salon and barbershop clients. Community relationships become business relationships, and business relationships become lifelong friendships.
To me, it's never been about transactions.
It's always been about people.
Whether I'm helping someone purchase their first home, sell a family property, launch a career, grow a business, or simply improve their confidence with a fresh haircut, the goal remains the same:
Help people move forward.
That is who I am.
A barber. A broker. A business owner. A community advocate. A lifelong student. And someone who genuinely enjoys helping people build better futures.
Thank you for taking the time to learn my story.
I look forward to learning yours.
